A Little History

G.Cooke is a family business established by Geoff and Joyce Cooke in 1974 at Haslington, Cheshire and has gained over 25 years experience in the design and manufacture of the finest quality coachbuilt vehicles in the country.

Geoff originally learnt and honed his craft whilst training at the legendary J.H.Jennings and Son in Sandbach, who were known for their quality coachwork, specialist vehicles and bespoke horseboxes with such notable clients as Eddie Macken, David Broome, the flamboyant Ted Edgar and Graham Fletcher, to name just a few!

Geoff and Joyce are still at the helm today, ensuring the business runs smoothly and that all important factor, "attention to detail" is maintained at all times.

Horseboxes are our speciality, but we can construct any type of specialist vehicle to your personal specifications.

Over the years the company has grown from strength to strength, moving from the original site in Haslington to larger premises (800 sq.ft) in Crewe in 1976. Success saw a further move to even larger premises (1200 sq.ft) at Alsager in 1983 before settling down in the current (2000 sq.ft) location at the heart of Crewe's modern industrial development on Crewe Gates Farm Industrial estate.

The classic Bedford TK chassis endeared itself to early horsebox design due to easy engine access via winged side panels avoiding the need to tilt the cab or provide trapdoor access.
It remains one of the classic images of horse transport history and leaves many of us with fond memories!
